SM-30 Transparent Silicone Membranes
SM-30 Transparent is a soft and highly extensible silicone membrane developed for vacuum pressing, forming and applications involving complex or deeply profiled components. Its hardness of 30 Shore A allows it to conform closely to curved surfaces, recesses and detailed workpiece contours.
The transparent silicone material combines elongation of up to 800% with an operating temperature of up to 200 °C. It is suitable for processes where flexibility, heat resistance and visibility of the workpiece beneath the membrane are important.

When to Choose a 30 Shore A Silicone Membrane
A 30 Shore A membrane is softer and more flexible than silicone membranes with higher Shore hardness. This allows SM-30 Transparent to stretch around detailed shapes and follow pronounced curves with less resistance.
This grade is particularly useful when shape conformity is more important than increased membrane rigidity. The required thickness should be selected according to the workpiece geometry, pressing process and expected operating conditions.
Transparent Material with a Smooth Surface
The transparent material can help the operator check the position of the workpiece and covering material beneath the membrane before and during pressing, provided that the equipment design and process allow visual inspection.
The smooth surface provides uniform contact with the processed material and is suitable for applications where a textile-impression surface is not required. The membrane should be kept clean to avoid transferring dust, adhesive residue or other contamination to the workpiece.
Recommended Applications
SM-30 Transparent silicone membranes are suitable for:
- vacuum pressing of curved and deeply profiled components;
- veneering and laminating shaped wood-based parts;
- forming thermoplastic materials within the specified temperature range;
- wood bending and production of curved laminated components;
- processing selected composite materials;
- applications requiring a soft, transparent and heat-resistant membrane.
SM-30 Transparent can be used at operating temperatures of up to 200 °C. Actual process temperature, pressure and cycle duration must remain within the limits specified for the membrane, press, adhesive and processed material.
Available Thicknesses and Supply Options
SM-30 Transparent membranes are available in thicknesses of 2 and 3 mm, with a standard width of 1600 mm. Available thickness should be selected according to the required flexibility, workpiece shape and expected mechanical load.
The 2 mm membrane is available in complete rolls of 20 m, while the 3 mm version is available in complete rolls of 12 m. Both thicknesses can also be ordered in custom-cut lengths starting from 1 m.
Before ordering, verify the required thickness, width and length and allow sufficient additional material for installation and clamping. Contact us if you need help selecting an SM-30 Transparent membrane for your application.
