NR-40 Membrane — 2 mm Thickness for Woodworking and Furniture Production

The NR-40 rubber membrane with a thickness of 2 mm and a width of 1700 mm is a professional material obtained through vulcanization of natural rubber. The membrane is widely used in woodworking and the furniture industry. It is designed for stable performance under load, ensures precise shape replication, and provides high-quality results when veneering and laminating various materials.

A 2 mm thickness is considered minimal in the professional vacuum forming segment. This size is ideal for small internal routings: the membrane easily follows local recesses, smoothly wraps complex areas, and ensures tight adhesion even when working with fine relief or deep contours. Unlike thicker membranes, which are less suitable for fine routing, the 2 mm NR-40 demonstrates softness and precision, providing a cleaner and more even result when forming furniture fronts and decorative elements.

High-Quality Rubber — High Elasticity

The membrane is made of high-quality natural rubber, offering elasticity up to 700%, excellent stretchability, and resistance to mechanical loads. A hardness rating of 40 Shore A allows the material to work softly and without creases, while withstanding the tension generated during vacuum pressing. With a tear strength of 20 MPa, NR-40 easily handles intensive work cycles, suits multi-shift production, and shows a longer service life compared to synthetic analogues.

Working Temperature and Smooth Surface

Thermal resistance up to 130 °C makes NR-40 suitable for most operating modes of vacuum presses used in furniture and joinery production. The material maintains its elasticity at elevated temperatures, withstands repeated heating and cooling cycles, and retains its original properties over time.

The membrane’s smooth grey surface ensures perfectly even pressing without marks or defects. Thanks to its universal width of 1700 mm, NR-40 fits most European vacuum presses, installs easily, and requires no preparation. The membrane is supplied talc-coated, improving glide and providing uniform pressure distribution over the entire surface. This is especially important for:

  • veneering and wood facing;
  • laminating decorative plastics;
  • finishing with leather and paper;
  • forming complex-shaped parts, including custom-designed items.

Advantages of NR-40

  • optimal 2 mm thickness for internal routings and small details;
  • high elasticity and ability to follow complex reliefs;
  • resistance to elevated temperatures;
  • long service life and high durability;
  • perfectly smooth surface for clean pressing results.

If you need a high-quality rubber membrane for a vacuum press designed for intensive use, the NR-40 membrane with a thickness of 2 mm is one of the best choices. It is easy to work with, reliable, and consistently delivers high processing quality regardless of the shape`s complexity.
