Vacuum sensors and switches for reliable system control

Vacuum sensors and switches detect pressure changes in a vacuum line and provide a signal for controlling pumps, valves, alarms or other equipment. They help automate vacuum processes, verify that the required vacuum level has been reached and reduce the risk of operating with insufficient negative pressure.

Digital vacuum sensors

Digital vacuum sensors provide an electronic output that can be integrated into vacuum control units, control panels, PLC systems and automated equipment. The Festo SPAN-B-B11R-Q4-PN-L1 sensor offers selectable PNP/NPN output, a listed pressure range from −1 to 10 bar, an operating voltage of 10.8–30 V DC and a 4 mm tube connection.

Vacuum switches and relays

A vacuum switch changes the state of its electrical contacts when the preset pressure level is reached. The Festo VPEV-1/8 model has a listed pressure range from −1 to 1.6 bar, a maximum output current of 5 A, a maximum switching voltage of 250 V AC and a 1/8 connection.

Applications of vacuum sensors

Vacuum sensors and switches are suitable for vacuum presses, vacuum stations, clamping systems, lifting equipment, packaging machinery and other automated installations. They can be used to start or stop a pump, activate a valve, confirm workpiece holding or generate an alarm when the vacuum level falls outside the required range.

How to choose a vacuum sensor or switch

Select the device according to the required pressure range, output type, supply voltage, switching capacity, connection size and mounting method. A digital sensor is suitable when an electronic PNP/NPN signal is required, while a vacuum switch is appropriate for direct relay-type control of compatible electrical circuits.

  • Required vacuum and pressure range
  • Digital PNP/NPN output or relay switching
  • Operating voltage and maximum output current
  • Pneumatic connection size
  • Bracket or panel mounting requirements
  • Compatibility with the control system

EU and worldwide delivery
